His parents are Luisa Fernanda Espinosa and Jose Agustin Valdes - originally from Monterrey, Mexico, but moved to Laguna Beach, California one year ago where they love it very much! Dad works managing private equity investments and enjoys literature, music and traveling. Mom is an art collector who enjoys fashion greatly and traveling too. Mum usually puts together little Mateo's outfit for the day but he will sometimes ask to have a bowtie, certain shoes, or a specific pair of jeans. He is very easy going and doesn't mind what he's wearing. What he is very specific about is that he doesn't want his hair spiked up so mom and dad decided to have this new haircut for him
Ever since he was a baby, Luisa enjoyed dressing him up and as he has grown up he has been developing his own style. Whether he wakes up wanting to be a rockstar or a superhero, he will dress up as such. His bowtie obsession began when he saw the FUN music video "We are young" and saw the lead singer wearing a bowtie and a suit. Everyday for around two weeks he asked to wear a bowtie to school and a suit on the weekends. And it looks stunning on this little man!
Alonso Mateo is very artistic and super sweet. He loves to paint, listen to pop and classical music and read. His favorite musicians are Grieg, Beethoven, FUN, Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga. Enjoys going to the park next to his house or the beach in the afternoons and having playdates with his friends from school and tae kwon do. He loves cartoons and funny videos on YouTube where he will crack up laughing. He is a happy kid and mom and dad are excited to see how he turns out to be the best man he can be.
