Oscar de la Renta's Spring 2013 Ad Campaign: A small slit does not harm a lady

Oscar de la Renta Spring/Summer 2013 Ad
Oscar de la Renta Spring/Summer 2013 Ad Campaign

Oscar de la Renta, who is known for designing dresses for very refined political women, turned spring into a flirtatious lady full of colors and laces. If anyone wants to feel respected and filthy powerful, Mr. de la Renta is your best choice to go after. Perhaps, this would be the main reason why such respected political women, to even Anna Wintour are loyal followers of this gentleman. Its spring 2013 campaign captures a more youthful yet classical (chic) lady we'd see at a coffee shop with her friends. But who knows, maybe it's just her secret weapon from her other provocative side.

Christian Dior's Spring 2013 Couture: Who Is the Princess of Nature Now?

Christian Dior's Spring 2013 Couture Presentation
Christian Dior's Spring 2013 Couture Presentation

If Raf Simons’ element last couture season were flowers, he showed us just how powerful of a weapon his nature theme could be de nouveau for Dior’s spring 2013 Haute Couture presentation. I fell so connected to this collection, that it gave me goose bumps (in the best of ways though).

The setting at Dior, and the music made me plunge into a deep dream that reminded me of the more mature, seductive side of Alice in Wonderland. The beauty of the clothes spoke for themselves, for they even took away the unexpected life of the decaying trees set along their paths, to be injected into every single one of those treasures. It all seemed masterfully minded, such as embroidery pieces which were crafted luxuriously well from the tree’s stems and vibrant flowers to be bloomed on coats, dresses, and tops. The pastel colored numbers incorporated with the Anne Hathaway haircut, elevated the passionate mood swing of the Dior lady I’ve been fond of. Shoes also had a prevailing metallic touch that felt needed for this collection, which looked of high standards with those neon colored leggings. There were dresses that could have been an effortless top for many, but for me it was part of the mood swing Simons was portraying. I felt everything was intended to be part of this wonderful story I experienced.

For a couture show, pieces appeared appropriate for a modern clientele. Now that the Oscar’s ceremony is around the corner, I wouldn't be shocked if someone were to wear a dress from Raf Simons’ Dior couture collection. I am really curious to know if there is any actress who has a surprise waiting for us, because you do know this is "couture."

Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2013 Ad Campaign

A black and white campaign couldn’t be any better for Balenciaga to say goodbye to Nicholas Ghesquière's last collection. Perfection was shown throughout the ads. It doesn’t take long to recognize the luxurious textures and patterns that set life to this devoted collection we’ll keep as a memory of Ghesquière’s final work at the house. Alexander Wang has skin tight shoes to fill up in this upcoming position he’ll be presenting at Balenciaga’s Fall/Winter 2013-2014 collection next month. We’ll have pen and paper ready to cover the day it’s time for Wang to debut.

Best Dressed List at The Critic's Choice Awards 2013 Ceremony

There were some who quite didn't know what they were doing, and there were others who knew their secret weapon. From patterns, colors, and deep v-neck cuts, there were lots to talk about. Below we give you some of the women (stars) who brightened the red carpet.

Taylor Swift at The Peoples Choice Awards 2013
Taylor Swift in Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 2013

Taylor Swift struck us with this classic white dress, which couldn't get any sexier. Ralph Lauren should be proud of this country girl.

Brittany Snow at The Peoples Choice Awards 2013
Brittany Snow in Maria Lucia Hohen

Brittany Snow showcased her playful version (or sensual side) with this bright yellow dress. Wanna play?

Chloe Moretz at The Peoples Choice Awards 2013
Chloe Moretz in Simone Rocha Spring/Summer 2013

Chloe Moretz is still a 15 year old teenage girl for those of you who have forgotten. It's quite astonishing to see a girl like her already taking risks in what she wears. Some would say it's too much for a teenager to be wearing Chanel Couture at such a young age. That is simply called jealousy you people. This vivid applique dress sets another "It girl" we should seek to start following.

Heidi Klum at The Peoples Choice Awards 2013
Heidi Klum in Julien MacDonald Spring/Summer 2013

Heidi Klum is still teaching us her Victoria Secret spice that lives within her. Slits and cuts were the perfect lessons taught from her.

Jennifer Lawrence at The Peoples Choice Awards 2013
Jennifer Lawrence in Valentino Fall 2012 Couture

We didn't know in what list to set Jennifer Lawrence. At first we stared at her and believed she looked stunning, but then we had our doubts. It kept going back and forth. We'll just leave her here for now. One thing we knew for sure was that this lady seems to have had a great status for wearing a Couture piece.

Emma Watson at The Peoples Choice Awards 2013
Emma Watson in Peter Pilotto Spring/Summer 2013

Paris Hilton should maybe take some notes on wearing prints from this British lady. For some of you who may not know, this dress was apparently altered for her in a shorter version. The original dress should be inches longer than what Watson is wearing here. It seems Watson might enjoy showing some legs.

Rachael Leigh Cook at The Peoples Choice Awards 2013
Rachael Leigh Cook in Oliver Tolentino

Rachael Leigh Cook chose to wear a simple silhouetted dress for the red carpet. The silver necklace she paired it with was what put her as one of the best dressed. Who knew an accessory could be so powerful?

Julianne Hough at The Peoples Choice Awards 2013
Julianne Hough in Tony Ward Couture

Julianne Hough owned this number. Couture definitely sat well on her.

Marion Cotillard at The Peoples Choice Awards 2013

Marion Cotillard is a woman of many dresses who one more time was welcomes to the best dressed women.

Stars Who Didn't Shine at The Critic's Choice Awards Red Carpet

The People’s Choice Awards red carpet yesterday was full of statement trenders and well……horrible mistakes. As usual, not everyone is pleased as what celebrities wear when walking a red carpet. There’s always got to be that person who really didn’t make it to the best dressed list. Below, we give you some of the stars who didn’t shine at all. Poor Them.

Ellen Pompeo at The People's Choice Awards 2013
Ellen Pompeo in Lanvin
This western number above did not look suitable for an awards ceremony. The look felt too casual to be worn here. A horse ride would of appeared better.

Jennifer Aniston at The People's Choice Awards 2013
Jennifer Aniston in Dior
Jennifer Aniston always manages to pull of a good look. This time she seemed to have forgotten about her curves. We adore Dior, but the dress simply made her look heavier than what she is. Or is she hiding something? Hmm.

Katy Perry at The People's Choice Awards 2013
Katy Perry in Valentino Fall/Winter 2012
Katy Perry is known for her outgoing personality that she portrays in the red carpets in stunning body-hugging silhouettes. We know she has the perfect body to rock any outfit, but this particular look seemed very restrained. It felt more of as we were meeting with her at a casual lunch conference than an awards night. The dress was elegant no doubt, her hair nicely done, but there was something missing. What happened Katy?

Lea Michele at The People's Choice Awards 2013
Lea Michele in Elie Saab
It seems Lea Michele is your average outgoing girl who feels young and energetic. This pink ensemble from Elie Saab didn’t portray that girl many of us are in love with. With all respect, pink was not your color. Try better next time please, and again, we do love you.

Paris Hilton at The People's Choice Awards 2013
Paris Hilton in Mary Kantrantzou Fall/Winter 2012
Paris Hilton somehow emulates your typical well dressed Barbie doll. Parisian chic we could say as well. We don’t know what happened here, but we thought there was too much color going on everywhere. The dress seemed very heavy on her thin body, which we actually appreciate. A short luxurious silk/chiffon dress would of put her on the best dressed list for sure.

Olivia Munn at The People's Choice Awards 2013
Olivia Munn in Carolina Herrera Resort 2013
Why would you hide your curves when you know you have something to show off? Olivia Munn’s piece felt more constrained than Katy Perry’s choice. We don’t know what happened to her, but we’ll just leave it to our thoughts.

Erin Hayes at The Peoples Choice Awards 2013
Erin Hayes in a black fringed dress
What was this Erin?

Monica Potter at The Peoples Choice Awards 2013
Monica Potter in a pale pink dress
Pale and grotesque are the only words we could use to describe this.

Kristen Kreuk at The Peoples Choice Awards 2013
Kristen Kreuk in Jean Fares
Kristen Kreuk should have known this was a risky outfit to wear. There was too much texture and color bolting everywhere, or maybe they were desperate to run away from her.

Gucci's Pre-Fall 2013 50's Forecast. A Contemporary Femme Fatale.

Gucci Pre-Fall 2013 Femme Fatale
Gucci Pre-Fall 2013
Frida Giannini was one of the first to present her new pre-fall 2013 collection for Gucci. Pure luxury, for which Gucci is symbolic of, was well stated here.  Silhouettes fit close to the body embraced the femme fatale Giannini was indulging. A passionate teal dress paired with a belt simply couldn’t be any more luxurious coming from Gucci.  Colors spoke intensely. Small doses of cheetah prints were about the most provocative we saw in this passionate collection. We even experienced an oversized gray coat we weren't expecting here from. Perhaps upcoming mother Giannini wanted to portray her tender feelings through this presentation. 70s took a break to be replaced by the romantic 50s. We are eager to see if Frida Giannini will take along her femme fatale interpretation into Gucci’s Fall/Winter 2013-2014 collection next month.

Spring/Summer 2013 Trends - 10. Digital Prints de Nouveau

Prabal Gurung Spring/Summer 2013 bloody widow dress
Prabal Gurung Spring/Summer 2013

Digital Prints are a subject of major concern for women. Would I look heavy? Would I look like a clown? Those are some questions many ask to themselves, restraining them from purchasing a statement item. Yes, prints are a subject you should wear with precaution. A print dress says enough, so why add more accessories? Here we present you some of dresses designers introduced for their spring/summer 2013 collection.

Designers brought digital prints to a whole different level this season. We could state to the max in what matters concern. Prabal Gurung’s bloody widow prints presented a dark atmosphere we weren’t familiar with when it came to prints. Delicate flowers dripping ink symbolized that inspiration Prabal was seeking towards. Peter Pilotto has become one of the best print designer brands in the fashion industry. Celebrities are always caught wearing one of their designs, and for spring it was obvious it would get even better. Ruffles, peplum, and fabric choice made the most ultra forward fashion piece one should have in their wardrobe. Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough at Proenza Schouler offered one of their finest digital photoprints ever. They made sure to stay at the top of the season with these images of crowd scenes detailed with colored studs and silver grommets at the hem. Is there any other designer who introduced this as well, because we can’t remember any one else? Mary Katrantzou also took the crème de la fleur (or however you say it) with her Asian inspired stamps. We thought it was an appealing play on prints. We would have wished there were some naughty prints as well. Do you have any comments on these designer prints?

Spring/Summer 2013 Trends - 9. Naughty Sheer

Emilio Pucci Spring/Summer 2013
Emilio Pucci Spring/Summer 2013

Sheer is one of the most worn fabrics around our city in the summer, but as clear and transparent as the runway, we yet to seek for one. Designers proved how naughty sheer can become if used correctly. Sheer was all about seduction, authority, and femininity for the spring collections. As you may have remembered from our past posts, spring/summer 2013 should be all about seduction. Emilio Pucci, an Italian house known for prints, presented various designs of sheer. Pants, dresses, and tops were all present in this collection. Prints, which were what we expected, were seen very rarely, as Peter Dundas decided to take an unusual route like other designers. The collection was not as bad as we thought it may have been. Franciso Costa at Calvin Klein gave us one of the most sexual collections the brand had presented. Each dress brought attention at the bust with kinky designs. The play of construction and lengths were the main elements. Stella McCartney’s athletic dresses could not have been left behind as well. Her dresses marked attitude and style. Valentino’s black sheer sleeve and lace embroidered dress below was a remarkable treasure we couldn’t let go of. Akris presented a collection that should be in the minds of several street style ladies preparing for next months fashion shows. If anyone wanted to play with sheer, Akris took the crown in their ninety-one piece collection. We have a question. Would you be willing to wear an item from the Akris spring/summer 2013 collection?
