Spring Fashion Trends 2013

A change in seasons is always exciting, and the trends this spring will have you wanting to switch up your wardrobe before the warm weather even begins. From feminine and pretty to bold and unexpected, fashion designers brought an exciting mix of looks to the runway this season.

Here are the top fashion trends for spring 2013:

Leather
Leather just may be the coolest trend this season. Dresses, tops, skirts, shoes, and bags were all seen in this sleek material on the runway. Don’t think you need to keep to white and pastel leather either. Deeper colors like hunter green, navy, mauve, and black are on trend for spring this year.

Ladylike Dresses

Ladylike dresses reminiscent of the 50’s (think Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn) are big for this spring. Full knee length skirts, belted waists, cap sleeves, high necklines, and swing dress silhouettes all graced the runway. These dresses are sophisticated and tasteful with softness and class.

Pleats

Along with the ladylike trend, expect to see pleated skirts, tops, and dresses in stores this season. These delicate folds in fabric whisper “vintage” and beg for a twirl. Perfect for work wear and romantic weekends, pleats may be the sweetest look for spring 2013,especially matched with vintage glasses.

Floral Prints

It wouldn’t be spring without some soft floral, and this print was big with designers again this year. Pretty floral fabrics will make an appearance when warm weather hits. Pair a flowing floral dress with a belt for quintessential spring style.

Stripes

Lined prints were all over the runway for spring 2013. Black and white or colored; thick, thin, or varied; vertical or horizontal – designers are loving all sorts of stripes. Have fun sailing into spring with this nautical print.

Lace

Romantically traditional lace is also a current favorite among designers. Old Hollywood glamour combined with refined silhouettes find perfection in this feminine fabric. The look is tasteful and pretty with ladylike class and delicate detail (not your grandmother’s doily).

Peplum

Structured skirts and peplum are here to stay for another season. Designers played with architecturally interesting shapes in skirts for spring 2013. Peplum is perfect for business wear that makes a statement.

Bold Colors

It won’t be the usual pale pastels lining storefronts this year. Darker, bolder, and brighter colors will be switching things up instead. Watch for three main color palettes: Grey (shades of black, white, and grey), Rich (darker tones of blue, green, purple, and orange), and Malibu (bright shades of salmon, aqua, yellow, and orange).

Cutouts

Be forewarned and start your fitness program for toning today - cutouts will be big this season. From necklines to midriffs to shoulders to ankles, skin will be peeking through cutouts all over the body.

Document Clutches

The accessory trend to watch for right now is the document clutch. Large enough to hold your tablet or laptop, this clutch is both functional and fashionable. Go for a smooth leather or unexpected color to finish off any outfit with style.
