Tom Ford and His Eponymous Fashion Career

Fashion designer, Tom Ford

Fashion icon/designer, Tom Ford, may be turning 52 today, but you can't deny the man looks in his thirties. You could skip through many of his pictures - parties, self-portrait advertisements, fashion shows - and you won't notice a difference of age. Not bad for his age today, huh? How does he even manage to look so youthful, considering fashion is one of the most stressful careers to work in today's fast paced society?

Well, he is never afraid to share some of his beauty secrets to other guys who seek for a flawless looking skin in case you're wondering too. "Male grooming and skincare products" - bronzer on t-zone for vivid skin, concealer for imperfections, luxury cleanser and moisturizer for refreshening skin - are what keep his looks fresh, and will also be something guys will finally be able to get from him when his so talked about men's skincare line debuts this fall.

In fact, he is one of the most liberating designers who is not afraid to speak about anything. So comfortable about himself, sex and nudity are part of his lifestyle. His campaigns always contain a sexual form of act (or provocation) that can exceed an average advertisement to the point of banning them. Talk about his so controversial pubic hair campaign for Gucci, and a perfume ad for his label placed on a model's private parts for advertisement. His eponymous collections always have a correlation with sex, but nothing to do with vulgarity. His mission is always to find the perfect balance for woman to feel sexy and glamorous in what they wear, but best of all, confident in who she is. He understands the anatomy of a woman, making his dresses luxury provocation for men; he is a lover of an open back, peekaboos, and cleavage slits of course. When it comes to menswear, he knows exactly how the perfect fitted suit should look like in a man. That has taken Mr. Tom Ford to be one of the A-list designers celebrities, men and women, will go to.

He has done so much for the fashion world, he is only one of the few designers you can't mess around with. His resume is one of the strongest in the fashion industry with Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent being his powerful ones. He could be considered the godfather of Gucci, because without him maybe Gucci wouldn't exist or be such a mega empire it is today. He took Gucci from the ground up, and everything he designed while under the brand became gold to say the least, as did for other brands. Today, it is a jewel to find a vintage Gucci x Tom Ford piece people would be willing to pay more than the required.  His own brand, Tom Ford, may not be superbly familiar to many since he does not believe so much in press - a reserved designer - but whoever gets to cross by his seasonal collections is difficult not to fall in love with. He is a fashion icon - best dressed, flawless skin, best collections of the season, trend setter, and open minded designer - who we wish to see delivering many more designs to crave for. Happy Birthday.

See some of his famous quotes and invigoratingly sexy campaigns/collections below.

The Fall 2013 Designer Collaborations Worth Knowing

This fall, designer collaborations with mega retailers are going to be bigger than ever. Mega retailers like Target, H&M, Banana Republic, Kmart, and others have joined forces with other luxury brands, models, and celebrity artists to give you something unique to choose from this upcoming season. Take a look below at some of the collaborations everyone is talking about, ready to buy, and must have in your fall calendar.

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target fall Collection Lookbook

Designer Collaboration: 3.1 Phillip Lim x Target

What's Included: The collection will include both men's and women's pieces - accessories and clothing. Considering Phillip Lim's love for the streets, it is obvious this will be one of Target's best designer collaboration of the year. Mr. Lim found ways to stay true to his luxury brand and perfectly blend in techniques to mix his luxury taste for more accessible pieces that look refined and cool. Details are worth the try here, such as one men's navy/camo print shirt or a women's floral print blouse. Stay on the look for some "BOOM" sweaters as well.

Price: Collection will run from $19.99 - $299.99

Date Available: The collection is set to be available online and at most Target retail stores beginning September 15. The full collection will be available online though.

isabel marant for hm fall collection

Designer Collaboration: Isabel Marant x H&M

What's Included: The collection will include a line of women's accessories and clothes, and it will also mark Isabel Marant's first collection for menswear. We know Isabel Marant could best be described as a French semi-country style à la luxury. One picture recently released by H&M shows the designer trying on a dress herself; it is Isabel Marant's DNA's gone affordable. What was more surprising was to see at last one shot of her menswear debut that shows a model wearing a dyed long sleeve shirt. We have a feeling girls and guys will go crazy for this retro looks very soon.

Price: Prices have not been specified, but it will most likely be similar to most of H&M's designer collaborations - $50+

Date Available: The collection hits stores and online beginning November 15. Thank god for the new U.S. H&M online shopping experience!

l'wren scott for banana republic holiday collection womenswear

Designer Collaboration: L'Wren Scott x Banana Republic

What's Included: The collection will include accessories and various amount of precious L'Wren Scott signature dresses at half the designer's luxury price (or more). There are only two sketches that were released earlier this month. Just from these sketches we can already tell you should expect to see some body-hugging dresses, slim-tailored suits, skinny pants, and very colorful prints and fabrics. The holiday season just got better with this upcoming collaboration.

Price: Collection will retail from $40 - $200. Not bad for a budget.

Date Available: The collection will be available just in time for the holiday celebrations exclusively at Banana Republic beginning December 5. We assure you their will be women ready to dazzle their purchase for Christmas or better yet, New Years Eve.

freja beha erichsen for mother jeans fall collection at nordstrom

Model Collaboration: Freja Beha Erichsen x Mother

What's Included: Supermodel, Freja Beha Erichsen, is turning professional denim designer for her new collaboration with the eponymous denim label, Mother. The collection will include good fitted skinny jeans - leather included, chambray shirts, and more. Also, for every pair purchased 10% will be donated to Doctors Without Borders, a humanitarian organization the model has worked and dedicated to over the past few years; consider it a nice aid for a great pair of jeans. And as for advertisement is concerned, she'll model them for you.

Price: Denims start from $145 - $300. Chic prices for cool model jeans and shorts.

Date Available: The capsule collection is set to hit Nordstrom this fall. Look for them very soon.

nicki minaj for Kmart collection line

Artist Collaboration: Nicki Minaj x Kmart

What's Included: The rap artist has teamed up with Kmart to include a series of very affordable sexy dresses and others the artist is fond of. The artist decided to share and model her designs herself on her Instagram account. We have to say one particular dress the artist modeled - a blue printed one pictured on the left - seems she put dedication to make curvier women like her look good in them. Urban, sexy, and affordable over all.

Price: Prices have not been announced, but it may be similar to other past celebrity collaborations - $28+

Date Available: The collection will be available at Kmart sometime this fall.

adam levine working on 22 by adam levine kmart collection line

Artist Collaboration: 222 by Adam Levine x Kmart

What's Included: We know Mr. Levine can have a unique sense of style. It will be Kmart's first attempt to include a specific menswear collection coming from an artist. The collection surely seems to include mostly casual and cool, edgy outerwear pieces for fall. There will be raw looking denim, military-style jackets, plaid shirts, and more, which will surely have a connection to Mr. Levine's cool rock style at very affordable prices.

Price: $14.99 - $69.99

Date Available: Collection is set to be available at Kmart this fall (September).

Anna Wintour and Her Voguestagram Trend Keeps Growing

Anna Wintour reading Vogue september issue 2013 with Jennifer Lawrence
Anna Wintour reading her September Issue. Have you read it?

We all know Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of American Vogue (and Queen of Fashion), has been one of the strongest editors to stay away from social media. You know someone like her is powerful if she doesn't have to deal with all these online media in order to reign in fashion. But when she does get a chance to make a brief appearance in social media, she assures everyone will talk about it and hopefully become a trend everyone will follow.

This was the case of her first ever Instagram shot for Vogue's Magazine account. It sounds awkward to say an editor hasn't been pictured in a magazine's page, but it is what it is. Oh, and even more interesting was knowing that her first Instagram picture was taken by a professional photographer, not just anyone. Taylor Jewell was the photographer in charge of this shot, which he proudly posted on his personal page as well. Seems Queen Wintour has set some rules if you want to see her on any other social media page in the future.

Speaking of the trend, the picture's caption read the following:

| "Anna Wintour reads #TheSeptemberIssue. Do you? We would love to see it! Show us your #voguestagram." |

After receiving more than 28K likes and counting, many fashion insiders and fans began posting pictures of them reading their newly beloved September Issue with Jennifer Lawrence on the cover. Even if people didn't take the time to read the caption, it is very safe to state that a picture is worth a thousand words, because more than anything else everyone wants to be pictured reading their September issue just like Anna Wintour. You can never say "NO" to the Queen. Get your #voguestagram going.

Beyonce Strikes Again in Custom Gucci Outfits

Gucci sketches for Beyonce's Mrs.Carter World Tour Outfits 2013

This week Beyonce seems to be not only making her Mrs. Carter World Tour a talked about concert with hair getting caught in a fan, or an audience member slapping her in the butt, but her high-end custom designer outfits seems to be growing each and every day. She has worn a series of Emilio Pucci, Givenchy, Kenzo, The Blondes (quite a buzzed one), and much more bedazzled outfits, but now she is about to open a new series of custom Gucci outfits. Yes, in case you may think you're all smart, she had already worn one custom Gucci outfit to the Chime for Change concert in London, but the collection could grow to be one of the best of any concerts.

So far, she debuted two outfits that were surely made for her personality. Frida Giannini, creative director of Gucci, stated that when designing Beyonce's outfits she "wanted the outfits to bring to life the assertive, powerful femininity" she sees in her performances. In our opinion these two outfits defined what Giannini was going for in a refined luxury manner. I don't know about you, but we wouldn't mind dressing up in those crisp white trousers and embroidered black/white top for a any occasion. We hope to see much more of these powerful outfits when she continues her eponymous tour worldwide.

What do you think so far about these two outfits?

Fashion News You Should be Reading | Julien Dossena, and More

Julien Dossena and Reed Krakoff

Fashion

1. Paco Rabbane has appointed 30-year old french designer Julien Dossena will replace Lydia Maurer as its new creative director for the brand. Most of you may ask who is this french guy and what is there to know about the brand?

Well, it happens that according to a press release from the label, Dossena was a senior designer at Balenciaga during Ghèsquiere's reign from 2008 to 2012. As senior designer, you are in charge of the work and details of a collection the head designer wants to bring to life, meaning Dossena could bring a great influence from Ghèsquire's technique to Paco Rabbane next season. He helped design Rabanne's fall 2013 show - a collection that sent a hot streetstyle message - and we can predict is if he were to take the brand in this route, Paco Rabanne could become the next big sensation amongst the youth. Maurer was beginning to shift the brand around quite well. (Read more here)

2. Reed Krakoff, who announced his departure in April as creative director from Coach, had been facing the problem as to who was going to buy his own label, Reed Krakoff. Coach had been the owner of his namesake label for quite a while, but ever since his departure it was time for someone to buy his name as well; felt like getting rid of everything Krakoff.

This week, as the deadline came to a close for the purchase, WWD reported that Reed Krakoff bought his own label from Coach. A smart move we'd have to state. He is the one who built his signature label after all, so why not be the boss of your own label now? If an agreement wouldn't have been reached, A $3 million sale cut would have occurred. Well, now he will proudly have more liberty to expand his exquisite luxury label even more. Good luck to him. (Read more here)

3. You have probably already heard that Dolce & Gabbana have declared to close their brand completely if a tax-evasion fine is implemented. We hope this never happens, because if it were to happen it would be a very devastating moment for the fashion world. (Read more here)

Tom Ford Men's Grooming Collection - Bronzer Gel

Old News - New News

1. In case you didn't know, Tom Ford is set to launch an exclusive line of men's grooming products: bronzer, moisturizer, clay mask, concealer, and others. Even though it's "grooming", do you think it goes more towards make-up for men? Either way, we can't deny Tom Ford is a well dressed man with a flawless skin we admire.

If he wanted to implement a great skincare product for men to wear, he would be the perfect candidate for the job. And if the line, which will be released in the fall, offers amazing results, rest assure the rest of the other guys will follow the lead. Investors even have set a well received number for these products, with the collection doing around $2.5 million in its first year. There is a lot of hope in Ford's new men's grooming collection don't you think? (Read more here)

Other Doubtful News

1. Alexander Wang released a video where he invites all his fan to a special top-secret event. The video below captures how people react when he announces that all the clothes are free to take. At first it may seem funny to see how the mass multitude of fans fight for free clothes, but after a few seconds a few doubts are created. Was this video staged, in other terms fake, or just a way to bring more media attention to the brand? We love Alexander Wang for his great use of knitwear and technical fabrics, but do we need this? Maybe for a short laugher we do. What do you think about the video?

Fashion News - What Is Trending In 2013?

Fashion changes with seasons, which is a great thing because every season has its special requirements with regard to clothing. Considering the highly sophisticated fashion sensibilities of style conscious people, designers come out with collections that are a perfectly apt for the season in terms of cuts, patterns, printsand fabrics. So, what is the hottest fashion news in 2013? The first quarter of the year brought out some fabulous fashion statements. Here they are.

Wrap blouses

Wrap blouses are definitely one of the most popular fashion clothing styles today, especially in the spring summer collections. Almost every fashion house showcased its range of wrap blouses in shows all over the world. From plain wraps to piped ones, you get them in all colors, styles andprints.

Colors

Color trends have been dominated by flatter, brighter and bolder colors. Leading the pack is emerald green. Other popular colors include poppy red, honey orange, lemon yellow, light grey jade, Monaco blue, African violets, pale pink, soft green and dusk blue. For people who like bolder and brighter colors, fashion houses have come out with darker tones of these colors. So, you have fuchsia, sunshine yellow, royal blue deep purple, bright orange and clear sky blue.

Demure dressing

Dresses are no longer larger than life. They are demure and subtle, but sophisticated enough to make a strong fashion statement. Lighter tones are used for these dresses and they gel perfectly with the spring theme.

Fashionable Bermudas

It is summer and without question, Bermudas are back with a bang. Pair them with stylish tank tops or cropped tops for that utterly stylish look. A lot of bright colors are being used for Bermudas this season.

Checks and stripes

Fashionistas these days do not seem to mind walking around looking like chessboards. While small checkeredprints are considered to be an evergreen trend, large chessboard kind of black and white prints are in trend these days. So, if you have the stomach for it, go ahead and give it a shot. If you want something more subtle yet trendy, choose large checkered footwear, handbags, jewelry and other accessories.

Ruffles

Ruffles in contrasting colors are being appreciated lately. You have ruffled skirts, sleeves and blouses. However, the most popular among the ruffled range are asymmetric skirts.

Cropped tops

Cropped tops are great if you have a well toned abdomen. They are being teamed up with all sorts of lower body clothes including jeans, trousers, skirts and shorts. You can choose halter necks, spaghettis or t-shirts in cropped patterns. They all look utterly stylish.

Bold floral

Bold floral prints have made a big comeback this season. Bright large flowers printed on pastel colored or white tops are stylish and very refreshing. They also match summer and spring themes.

White for the feet

In the footwear range, white has come out to be the dominant color. If you flip through the fashion magazines, you can see celebs flaunting their gladiator shoes, pumps, peep toes and every other kind of footwear in white.

The Fashion News

1.) As you may have already heard, German fashion brand, Hugo Boss, has confirmed Jason Wu to be its new artistic director for womenswear. He will be taking over the label beginning with a first trial at his pre-fall 2013 collection. The real deal with unveil next February 2014 when he presents his Fall 2014 runway collection in New York for the brand. We have a assurance he'll do a great job. No doubt has speculated.

2.) H&M has knocked at Isabal Marant to create a new Fall 2014 designer collaboration for the mega retailer. The exclusive collection will consist of accessories, womenswear designs, and the designer's first ever attempt at menswear. This will be something to look forward to. It also be of great benefit to get another designer not many are familiar with to be exposed to the world. Expect to see the casual parisian - the way French people do it.The collection will be available beginning November 14.

3.) Emma Hill, ex-creative director of Mulberry, announced her departure from Mulberry. The brand was making great achievements under her work, but the question here is who will take over her job now?

4.) Saint Laurent has announced its first sunglasses collection. While most of it may be black, the new Saint Laurent color, sunglasses don't look that bad. But for the price range between $290 - $360, I may just stick with my lovely Ray-Bans. (High Snobiety)

5.) Marc Jacobs could be on his way out of Louis Vuitton. His done such an incredible job building the reputation of the brand globally that it would be depressing to see him go. If he were to go, there are speculations that he could become the next designer for Coach. Wonder how that would work out? Oh, and Nicholas Ghesquiere could return back to the fashion world as the designer for Louis Vuitton? Things are getting hot in here. (Refinery 29)

The Celebrity News
Robert Pattinson has become the new face of Dior Homme fragrance. I guess that makes it another competition for models to book another fragrance ad. (Just Jared)

Men's LFW Spring 2014 Schedule is Official. So, Will We Ever Get a Men's NYFW Schedule?

Men's London Fashion Week Spring 2014 Schedule Official
Pictured Left to Right: Burberry Prorsum F/W 2013, Rag & Bone F/W 2013, Alexander McQueen F/W 2013

London is getting ready to began its official 3 day fashion week dedicated purely to men's fashion. It's created quite a buzz for many in the fashion world. What's so important about this three day event though? Well, what's interesting is that London has become the third capital of the fashion world to announce a menswear fashion show full of only men's designers. We know Milan and Paris are not only a fashion capital known for its womenswear collections, but also for its prestigious menswear collections. London has begun to follow the lead of the other capitals. If you are familiar at all with London Fashion Week, you would know it is the capital of what I like to describe as "Innovative Beginners." Many of us forget to look at the creative designers that London has to offer, especially in men's fashion. I bet you are sure to find extraordinarily hidden boutiques that pride in the best sartorial craftsmanship.

This is why several new and international designers have made sure to make the Men's LFW schedule much more interesting. Rag & Bone, who are actually an English brand, have moved their presentation from Milan to London for their next men's Spring 2014 collection. Burberry, who is one of the most internationally recognized English brands, have also decided to join the Spring 2014 Men's LFW calendar event. Even Dolce & Gabbana (Italian), who were asked a month ago if they were willing to join in this special event, were pleased to accept the invitation. They will have the honor of officially opening Men's Spring 2014 LFW with a presentation of their summer 2014 tailoring collection and store debut. Jimmy Choo, Paul Smith, Alexander McQueen, Tom Ford, and others have also joined the list.
Who knows, maybe London's three day menswear event may soon turn into an official fashion week separated into menswear and womenswear? For now, the schedule that was released looks quite interesting to begin with, but the other big question is this. If London, Milan, and Paris are going to offer both men's and women's shows, will New York become the next capital of the world to even all things out with only a menswear fashion week?

There are menswear collections during NYFW, but it only interferes with what most of us are assigned to see - women's runway collections. They don't give much of an opportunity for new menswear designers to be looked at or others, because were too busy analyzing other clothes. That being said, maybe a NYFW menswear calendar should be taken into consideration. Make the event happen during the first week of June, and then let it lead to London? Yes, it may take time to make the calendar fair for everyone, but one thing for sure is that profits and new talents could become more recognizable.

Check out the official Men's London Fashion Week Schedule here, which will began June 16-18. Check back here soon for the coverage.

The 2013 CFDA Awards Winners Revealed

The CFDA 2013 Awards Winners

Even though only one brand could be chosen as the winner, all the other nominees deserved a great applause as well. I found this year's nominees to be quite a tough decision, as for well, all of them have become a favorite of mine together with others. Again, congratulations to all the CFDA winners! Well deserved.

If you have not yet watched the broadcast of the CFDA Awards Ceremony on Style.com, then you should take some time to watch every episode of it. The ceremony - joyful, spirited, and humble - was made for everyone to enjoy. It was nice to sit down and watch as how the nominees were being honored at such a special night. I found Ralph Lauren's speech towards Vera Wang's Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement such a beautiful and compelling one. I wish I could have heard more of Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy, but we got to see another side of him here. Behind the dark themes of his designs, there seems to be a shy designer with a great heart. He really did deserve the CFDA International Awards. Overall, the ceremony is a must see.

Below are the winners of the CFDA Awards:

Womenswear Designer of the Year - Jack McCollough & Lazaro Hernanadez, Proenza Schouler

Accessories Designer of the Year - Phillip Lim, 3.1 Phillip Lim

Menswear Designer of the Year - Thom Browne

Swarovski Award for Accessories - Pamela Love

Swarovski Award for Menswear - Dao-Yi & Maxwell Osborne, Public School

Swarovski Award for Womenswear - Max Osterweis & Erin Beatty, Suno

The 2013 CFDA Nominations - Honoring Our American Designers

CFDA 2013 Nominees- Lazaro Hernandez & Jack McCoullough of Proenza Schouler, Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang
Left to Right: Lazaro Hernandez & Jack McCoullough of Proenza Schouler // Marc Jacobs // Alexander Wang

Being nominated for any CFDA awards is already a very important recognition for any fashion designer. There are many great designers out there, but these three designers above have proven to be changing the way women dress in today's era. To shorten things up, these three (4) designers above have won an award more than once. When it comes to choosing a winner for this specific nomination, I have to say things look quite tense in selection one. I feel a buzz going in between Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler. Who will win? We'll have to wait and find out on Tuesday.

CFDA 2013 Nominees- Duckie Brown, Michael Bastian, Thom Browne
Left to Right: Steven Cox & Daniel Silver of Duckie Brown // Michael Bastian // Thom Browne

Menswear designers must feel quite honored to be nominated in this type of field. It has been no secret as the years pass by, more men seem to be appreciating designer items to include in their wardrobe. All of these three designers above have also made some great changes in men's fashion in their own perspective. Thom Browne can be pleasing for his avant-garde work of arts, whilst Michael Bastian always finds some ways to make the modern man feel confident in what he wears. Duckie Brown has also been a brand that has done quite well over the past few seasons. For this particular nomination, I would give it to Michael Bastian.

CFDA 2013 Accessories Nominees - Alexander Wang, Phillip Lim, Proenza Schouler
Left to Right: Alexander Wang heels // Phillip Lim salmon bag // Proenza Schouler PS1 bag

Accessories are a quite a prestigious award to be nominated for. You know that without accessories, clothes just wouldn't have a story to be told or a touch of personality to your looks. Just as the womenswear nominations, this may be a tough decision to choose from. Phillip Lim has proven to be quite a tough candidate. Proenza Schouler has had a huge success with their PS1 handbags, while Alexander Wang has also had quite a success in the accessories market. In general, all have proven to be a favorite of many streetstyle fans.

CFDA 2013 Awards - Oscar de la Renta, Riccardo Tisci, Vera Wang
Left to Right: Oscar de la Renta // Riccardo Tisci // Vera Wang

While these three designers may not have been nominated for any of the above nominations, they have gained respect in any of the above fields. Oscar de la Renta, nominated (winner) for The CFDA Founder's Award, is a very special recognition for any designer. But one of the most prestigious awards for any designer in my opinion is the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes a designer for all their hard work and dedication over the past years. Vera Wang will be this year's designer to receive the recognition. And if you didn't quite grasp what the CFDA awards are, they are mostly to recognize our outstanding American designers who all deserve an applause. That being said, any other designer being nominated for an International Award must be an honor for any designer, who this year's award goes to Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy. The CFDA couldn't have chosen any one better this year.

Other Important Nominees

Swarovski Award for Womenswear:

Max Osterweis & Erin Beatty, Suno
Shane Gabier & Christopher Peters, Creatures of the Wind
Carly Cushnie & Michelle Ochs, Cushnie et Ochs

Swarovski Award for Menswear:

Tim Coppens
Todd Snyder
Dao-Yi & Maxwell Osborne, Public School

Swarovski Award for Accessories:

Pamela Love
Irene Neuwirth

AND A VERY SPECIAL AWARD

Carine Roitfeld and Amanda Seyfried Model for Givenchy Fall 2013 Campaign

Amanda Seyfried appears all high-end model in Givenchy's Fall 2013 Campaign
Amanda Seyfried appears all high-end model in Givenchy's Fall 2013 Campaign.

Carine Roitfeld has practically become part of the Givenchy family, or more like a mother to the brand. Riccardo Tisci has always had a huge talent as the head designer for Givenchy, portraying that tough high-end semi-gothic look he's seen in the brand. This is why many of his special clients and celebrities like Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Rooney Mara, Amanday Seyfried, and much more have been a big supporter of the brand.

Wearing a Givenchy item is like gaining confidence in who you are. There is something in it that makes you feel special, fashionable, and people questioning you, "Where did you that cool shirt?" "Oh, thanks, it's Givenchy," which sounds so much better when you say it in a tough french accent. Say it!

For it's Fall 2013 campaign, Carine Roitfeld (french accent) collaborated once more in styling Riccardo's collection, and being responsible for showing off a very different Amanda Seyfried. Doesn't she look all high-end model? I thought her physical edginess fit perfectly for this brand. She's already the model for one of Givenchy's perfume ad where she appears much more like an actress compared to this campaign. I personally think other models may have found another competition for a brand, because Amanda is really selling it here. Maybe, mama Carine was responsible for the magic shot as well.

Carine Roitfeld (left), and her daughter Julia-Restoin Roitfeld (right) in Givenchy's Fall 2013 Campaign.
Carine Roitfeld (left), and her daughter Julia-Restoin Roitfeld (right) in Givenchy's Fall 2013 Campaign.

Also, not only did Madame Roitfeld style the campaign, she was also photographed for the campaign. Fair and square I would declare. Why not just help for the photoshoot, but be in it? Oh, and with her daughter too, Julia-Restoin Roitfeld. They both looked stunning in the campaign. A total perfect image of what a Givenchy lady looks like. It may be true, French women know how to work it better.

Fashion Note: If you're not familiar with Carine Roitfeld, which you should, she was once the editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris from 2001 to 2011. She later resigned from her position due to some special projects she had in mind. In 2012 she became the founder and  editor-in-chief of her famous seasonal magazine, CR Fashion Magazine. She is also very well known for being an editor with a unique taste of style.

Saint Laurent Sold Out

Saint Laurent spring 2013 collection have sold out
Several of these Saint Laurent spring pieces have already sold at various retailers, and are having to make a second order to keep in stock. The classic fedoras in rabbit fur have been a big hit.

Hedi Slimane may be by now the most talked about designer in the fashion world. Since his debut as the new creative director for Saint Laurent Paris, the negative critics for his work at the house have not stopped following him. His debut for his Spring/Summer 2013 collection was criticized as a horrendous mockery to the legend of Monsieur Yves Saint Laurent. In fact, his two most recent collections – his spring boho and fall baby-doll grunge theme – received one of the strongest negative reviews I had seen in a while.

According to a latest New York Times article written by Eric Wilson about Hedi Slimane’s new role in the world of Saint Laurent, Slimane was already expecting such negativity from his collections even before his debut. If he sensed this was going to happen, then why create such a controversy? If you ever happened to know something about its original creator, Monsieur Saint Laurent, his brand itself was quite a controversy. It is no surprise Slimane has gone back to the roots of the once acclaimed power house, but in my perspective he has keenly made sure it becomes back again the brand we all used to once talk about so much.

To sort of prove my side, Style.com reported in the article that Slimane’s show ranked the second most viewed collection for both fall and spring seasons – more than 2.2 million views for his fall collection – right after beloved Chanel. Apparently, while Stefano Pilati was under the house, Saint Laurent never made it to such a high ranking, not even the top 10.

Several retailers have already begun to sell Hedi Slimane’s spring/summer collection for Saint Laurent. And critics may scream disaster, but the truth of the fact is that the customers who are shopping around for this specific collection have a different taste. Sales for Slimane’s spring collection have rocketed over the sky. The sales have been so huge that most online luxury retailers like Net-a-Porter and My Theresa have sold out several of its pieces already. Referring to the article, Barneys New York sold 60 percent of its spring orders at full price. There were no discounts. I checked back recently at other retailers after the pieces had been sold out, and it seemed they had restocked another order of Saint Laurent accessories and shirts.

I believe what was once a collection that may have “shocked” you, after a certain time, converts into the most desired collection you can’t get out of your thoughts. It’s like hearing a song you hate so much, which after a while you’re joyfully singing it over and over. It may be that what is happening to this spring collection will hopefully happen to next fall’s baby-doll grunge collection. The critics may need to calm their negativity and take time to indulge on it slowly and sweetly. I’ll guarantee you’ll see a whole different dimension. If you still happen to disagree, then all I can say is get used to him, because it seems so far Mr. Slimane will be around for quite some time.

And for you girls waiting for the end of the season 70 percent sale, I doubt you'll get your hands on Saint Laurent. Better luck saving for next upcoming fall.

Breaking News - Nicola Formichetti Leaves Mugler for Diesel

On Tuesday it was announced that Nicola Formichetti, who used to be the creative director of Mugler, was leaving the house after two years in realm. I don't know if this was a shock for many such as when the news broke out that Nicholas Ghesquiere was leaving Balenciaga *sad face* several months ago. I guess two years is not enough to gain an overly respect for someone in fashion.

Thierry Mugler used to be one of the most popular french brands among many when its creator was under the brand. Who doesn't happen to have a vintage Mugler piece of history somewhere? Fast forward to the era in which Formichetti was beginning to take over the influence of the brand and Lady Gaga.

This is what I was starting to love about Formichetti. He was turning these types of clothes into a very wearable, futuristic, and trending piece of garment for many young generations. You have to agree that we now live in an era where the young group of teenagers are our mass target to help grow a brand in the future. There was a magical touch that he gave to his collections that had a sort of avant garde look without looking dreadful. He somehow found ways to make sure a bizarre piece would be fashionably wearable and not fit for a museum. Celebrities became a huge fan of this brand, such as Kim Kardashian, who looked stunning in everything she wore; fashion-forward without appearing exaggerated.

Well, the news had just been leaked out on Tuesday, and Thursday morning Diesel announced that their would be a new artistic director named to take charge all the creative aspects of its main line. Guess who it was? Yes, Nicola Formichetti was named new artistic director of Diesel.

I can definitely see Nicola taking over the design perspectives of the Italian sportswear label. Diesel is all about risking it and being unique. And Nicola Formichetti seems to have all the qualities to fit for this new job. After all, I believe if Diesel doesn't have a wide young audience who is willing to spend several dollars on a pair of jeans or other clothes, maybe this may become the new talk of the young generations wearing their favorite brand. For now, my words are just simple opinions.
