Tom Ford and His Eponymous Fashion Career

Fashion designer, Tom Ford

Fashion icon/designer, Tom Ford, may be turning 52 today, but you can't deny the man looks in his thirties. You could skip through many of his pictures - parties, self-portrait advertisements, fashion shows - and you won't notice a difference of age. Not bad for his age today, huh? How does he even manage to look so youthful, considering fashion is one of the most stressful careers to work in today's fast paced society?

Well, he is never afraid to share some of his beauty secrets to other guys who seek for a flawless looking skin in case you're wondering too. "Male grooming and skincare products" - bronzer on t-zone for vivid skin, concealer for imperfections, luxury cleanser and moisturizer for refreshening skin - are what keep his looks fresh, and will also be something guys will finally be able to get from him when his so talked about men's skincare line debuts this fall.

In fact, he is one of the most liberating designers who is not afraid to speak about anything. So comfortable about himself, sex and nudity are part of his lifestyle. His campaigns always contain a sexual form of act (or provocation) that can exceed an average advertisement to the point of banning them. Talk about his so controversial pubic hair campaign for Gucci, and a perfume ad for his label placed on a model's private parts for advertisement. His eponymous collections always have a correlation with sex, but nothing to do with vulgarity. His mission is always to find the perfect balance for woman to feel sexy and glamorous in what they wear, but best of all, confident in who she is. He understands the anatomy of a woman, making his dresses luxury provocation for men; he is a lover of an open back, peekaboos, and cleavage slits of course. When it comes to menswear, he knows exactly how the perfect fitted suit should look like in a man. That has taken Mr. Tom Ford to be one of the A-list designers celebrities, men and women, will go to.

He has done so much for the fashion world, he is only one of the few designers you can't mess around with. His resume is one of the strongest in the fashion industry with Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent being his powerful ones. He could be considered the godfather of Gucci, because without him maybe Gucci wouldn't exist or be such a mega empire it is today. He took Gucci from the ground up, and everything he designed while under the brand became gold to say the least, as did for other brands. Today, it is a jewel to find a vintage Gucci x Tom Ford piece people would be willing to pay more than the required.  His own brand, Tom Ford, may not be superbly familiar to many since he does not believe so much in press - a reserved designer - but whoever gets to cross by his seasonal collections is difficult not to fall in love with. He is a fashion icon - best dressed, flawless skin, best collections of the season, trend setter, and open minded designer - who we wish to see delivering many more designs to crave for. Happy Birthday.

Fashion News You Should be Reading | Julien Dossena, and More

Julien Dossena and Reed Krakoff

Fashion

1. Paco Rabbane has appointed 30-year old french designer Julien Dossena will replace Lydia Maurer as its new creative director for the brand. Most of you may ask who is this french guy and what is there to know about the brand?

Well, it happens that according to a press release from the label, Dossena was a senior designer at Balenciaga during Ghèsquiere's reign from 2008 to 2012. As senior designer, you are in charge of the work and details of a collection the head designer wants to bring to life, meaning Dossena could bring a great influence from Ghèsquire's technique to Paco Rabbane next season. He helped design Rabanne's fall 2013 show - a collection that sent a hot streetstyle message - and we can predict is if he were to take the brand in this route, Paco Rabanne could become the next big sensation amongst the youth. Maurer was beginning to shift the brand around quite well. (Read more here)

2. Reed Krakoff, who announced his departure in April as creative director from Coach, had been facing the problem as to who was going to buy his own label, Reed Krakoff. Coach had been the owner of his namesake label for quite a while, but ever since his departure it was time for someone to buy his name as well; felt like getting rid of everything Krakoff.

This week, as the deadline came to a close for the purchase, WWD reported that Reed Krakoff bought his own label from Coach. A smart move we'd have to state. He is the one who built his signature label after all, so why not be the boss of your own label now? If an agreement wouldn't have been reached, A $3 million sale cut would have occurred. Well, now he will proudly have more liberty to expand his exquisite luxury label even more. Good luck to him. (Read more here)

3. You have probably already heard that Dolce & Gabbana have declared to close their brand completely if a tax-evasion fine is implemented. We hope this never happens, because if it were to happen it would be a very devastating moment for the fashion world. (Read more here)

Tom Ford Men's Grooming Collection - Bronzer Gel

Old News - New News

1. In case you didn't know, Tom Ford is set to launch an exclusive line of men's grooming products: bronzer, moisturizer, clay mask, concealer, and others. Even though it's "grooming", do you think it goes more towards make-up for men? Either way, we can't deny Tom Ford is a well dressed man with a flawless skin we admire.

If he wanted to implement a great skincare product for men to wear, he would be the perfect candidate for the job. And if the line, which will be released in the fall, offers amazing results, rest assure the rest of the other guys will follow the lead. Investors even have set a well received number for these products, with the collection doing around $2.5 million in its first year. There is a lot of hope in Ford's new men's grooming collection don't you think? (Read more here)

Other Doubtful News

1. Alexander Wang released a video where he invites all his fan to a special top-secret event. The video below captures how people react when he announces that all the clothes are free to take. At first it may seem funny to see how the mass multitude of fans fight for free clothes, but after a few seconds a few doubts are created. Was this video staged, in other terms fake, or just a way to bring more media attention to the brand? We love Alexander Wang for his great use of knitwear and technical fabrics, but do we need this? Maybe for a short laugher we do. What do you think about the video?

The Best of Fall 2013 Ad Campaigns

Kenzo Fall 2013 cat in shoe campaign
Kenzo Fall/Winter 2013 Campaign

Most Fall/Winter 2013 Ad Campaigns have been released by now, and by most we mean we're still waiting for Gucci to close the deal. Yes, it's still July, but if you think about it, fall season is just around the corner. You'd have to agree that a great amount of campaigns have really put some effort into making one of the best advertisements this season. Some may be quirky cool, provocative, thoughtful, or controversial like Saint Laurent has been.

Whether you love a certain campaign or not, the whole point of these campaigns are to captivate people's attention for a minimum amount of seconds. It only takes about two seconds to have someone take some time to turn around and pause to see an ad. This is why it comes to my conclusion that the following ads below and above are one of the best of the season. Being familiar with the brand's collection doesn't have to be tough homework, because a striking ad is all it takes to have you searching for that brand.

Kenzo Fall/Winter 2013 Campaign

In a short summary, Kenzo deserves an applause for its numerous outstanding campaigns. Its Fall 2013 campaign will probably have a wider audience searching for what the brand sells, and overall purchasing the item. In fashion, their collection may not have been the best of the season, but it will surely cause another street style sensation with their most recent technique of advertisements. As a customer, I felt somehow compelled to purchase those shoes the cat was in; they felt luxurious and cool. And about their other awkward semi-dissection ad, we have to say it does grab your attention.

What do you think about the rest of the Fall/Winter 2013 Ad Campaigns?

Miu Miu went for a provocative (lusty) ad that was set on a boat. Doesn't this sound like the perfect setting to provoke sensuality with models Adriana Lima and Emily DiDonato above?

Michael Kors Fall/Winter 2013 military Campaign
Michael Kors Fall/Winter 2013 Campaign

Michael Kors seems to have focus on delivering a much more sophisticated campaign over the past few seasons. We know Michael Kors is a traveler, but we want to see where his collection will take us each season. Karmen Pedaru and Simon Nessman have turned to be the perfect couple to take us on their adventures. This season, it seems Kors' was portraying a tough military influence with class. Pedaru's black and white coat number sold us. If you thought the coat may have looked kitsch, think again.

Fendi took us to a very high building surface in their Fall 2013 campaign. It may be too overt (editorial vibe), but Saskia de Brauw is sure looking high-end in that fur coat. The campaign could even quality to have it framed in your salon.

Versace without a doubt hit a high note with their Fall 2013 campaign. Who wouldn't want to pause to see Kate Moss naked covered with only Versace's yellow fur coat? Or see her making us want to purchase those colorful handbags? Let's just say this may go on our wall of iconic supermodels who can sell anything easily.

Louis Vuitton had no other than Gisele Bundchen and an extraordinary selection of more supermodels pose for its new Fall 2013 campaign. Just as the collection implied, it wouldn't be surprising that the setting took place at a hotel. It was a romantic intimacy with supermodels that felt alluring.

Jil Sander Fall/Winter 2013 Campaign

Jil Sander likes to keep things minimal, and that was how her Fall 2013 campaign felt. There was only something about the wind blowing the model's hair and high-collared leather coat that was mind thoughtful and relaxing if you think about it.

Tom Ford Fall/Winter 2013 Campaign

Tom Ford is the symbol of sexuality. This would be why his campaigns always portray a strong sex appeal in them, which is what his fall 2013 campaign had in them. As stated in one post, Mr. Ford knows who he is marketing to here: a woman who wants high luxury made sexy. (See more pictures here).

Donna Karan Fall/Winter 2013 Steamy Campaign
Donna Karan Fall/Winter 2013 Campaign

Donna Karan fall 2013 campaign was about capturing an intimate relation between an artist and his muse. The campaign doesn't need much explaining after this, because there is clearly something steamy going on between these two models. (See more pictures here).

Tom Ford's Fall 2013 Sexy Print Campaign

tom ford print dresses

Tom Ford is one of those few designers who whether you like him or not, you can't deny he knows how to work the luxury market sexually well. Most of us may not be as overly familiar with his collections, because he manages to keep them very private for the most part......until now.

Not so long ago he decided to bring back his eponymous line to the runway last February, during London Fashion Week. And what a way to reunite again with the catwalk. It was one of the most anticipated collections of London, and well worth it. His fall 2013 collection bombarded us with all these wild prints - Ka-Pow! In your face.

There were definitely much to choose from here - cheetah print jackets with fur lining, leather kinky boots, sexy embroidered tops and bottoms, color-block cut skirts in suede, lusty zebra print heels, and more Ka-Pow! trimmed jackets. Evening or daywear, Mr. Ford knows very well who his client is: a woman who wants high luxury made sexy. What do you think?

Spring/Summer 2013 Trends - 6. Gladiator Heels

Versace Spring 2013
Versace Spring/Summer 2013 shoes

Have you though about what shoes to accessorize your outfit this spring? Well think no further, because the answer is quite simple. Gladiator heels were seen at very prestigious runways for Spring/Summer 2013. Altuzarra, a brand that has gotten popular over the course of the season, pleased us with their interpretation of its shoes, adding femininity and gracefulness. Versace delivered by far one of the best gladiator heels in their collection. As we know, Versace is known for being that provocative and liberal feline, which the shoes declared it all. The fringe detail and medusa stamp marked and outgoing accessory for those who adore to party. Salvatore Ferragamo decided to restrain on too much detail and focus on emphasizing structure, which crocodile had a good amount to say. Tom Ford was probably by far, the most talked designer of the moment. For those that don’t understand, his unique design of gladiator heels had a lot to talk on media. The shoes just declare authority and confidence, and by the way, they are available in black, silver, or stunning gold.
